NEW YORK CITY
We headed to The Big Apple for Andy’s 10th birthday celebration in April. We did some of the NYC Classics — The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, riding the subway, FAO Schwarz at Rockefeller Center, Central Park — and we also fit in a few newer additions — The Museum of Ice Cream, The Little Island, biking along the Hudson River Greenway, strolling along the High Line to Hudson Yards. Perfect weather, incredible food, LOTS of walking, sight-seeing, shopping, and even an unplanned meet-up with our friends from New Jersey. (Shout-out to the Gretzes and Billy Corgan!)
Where did we go for our first meal in NYC?
In which river can you find The Little Island? (Bonus: Kellie Taylor cameo!)
What flavor of cream cheese did Alex get on his bagel?
True or False: The slides at Battery Park Playground are both very fun and fast.
What food does Megan not really like?
How many people were in Times Square when we visited (give or take)?
What did we climb to the top of in Union Square Park Playground?
According to Andy, approximately how big is Central Park?
HOCKING HILLS, OHIO
We journeyed into the ‘Great Unexpected’ in Ohio with Megan’s family this summer. Seriously, if you’ve never been to Hocking Hills do yourself a favor a book the trip today. We were transported through some sort of time-space continuum into what felt more like Jurassic Park than an hour south of Columbus. Beautiful waterfalls, massive caves, dense forests, intense hikes, and great time with family. (And lots of hot tubbing….)
Did we find the Devil’s Bathtub?
According to legend (not Alex), how many horses could fit in Chapel Cave?
How many times did Alex & Andy hot tub on day one?
How many waterfalls are there at Twin Falls? (Could be a trick question, better press play…)
Is 8 times too many times to hot tub? (YOLO)
In what year did Lucy & Chas visit the Rock House? (Hint: It wasn’t in the past 2 centuries!)
How many marshmallows did the raccoon steal while we were sitting around the fire? (Bonus points if you know the raccoon’s name, which is not mentioned in the vlog, so good luck.)
ISLE ROYALE & MACKINAC ISLAND, MICHIGAN
We had an epic adventure to Michigan this summer, making the long trek all the way up to the U.P. and beyond! We visited one of the least-visited but most revisited National Parks, the incredible Isle Royale National Park. Situated in Lake Superior with the only means of access by boat or seaplane, this National Park is a must-see. Then we traveled to a much more visited (and more horse- and bike-populated) Michigan island — Mackinac Island — in Lake Huron. Mountain biking, swimming, hiking, camping, SUPing, seaplaning, star-gazing, archery tagging (Google it), dirt jumping, ice cream and fudge eating, and so so much more. We had such an incredible Michigan summer trip that we made a second trip over Thanksgiving weekend. Don’t sleep on Michigan. It’s a great state, full of adventure and PASTIES (one of Andy’s new favorite foods, all of which start with a P strangely enough….).
