2020 has been a special kind of year. And so it seems appropriate that this is a special kind of Christmas greeting. While some people’s 2020 Christmas cards were delayed due to a global pandemic, the Troxell’s 2019 Christmas cards were delayed, but not due to printing delays or postal carrier complications. No, our 2019 delay was due to Nathan yet again finding a way to make it all the way through Christmas and well into the New Year before admitting that Troxell Trivia was just not going to happen in 2019. So, here we have another bonus 2-year edition of Troxell Trivia for you!
Now, on to the “2019…or was it 2020?” Troxell Trivia! To reveal the correct answer, simply tap the image on your mobile phone or rollover ('move your mouse on top of') it on your computer. The images may provide some key clues to the answers, so pay attention…and good luck!
a boy and his bike
Andy sure loves to bike. So much so that he received a new bike on his birthday two years in a row. (And then he got a new mountain bike in June 2020…) Can you tell…which year is which?
SCOUTS HONOR
Alex and Andy enjoy Cub Scouts with the Pinewood Derby being one of their favorite annual events. Looks like they traded hair styles between the ‘19 and ‘20 races as well. Can you tell…which year is which?
exploring our world
We always enjoy heading out on family vacations to explore new places and experience new adventures. Nathan believes that every good vacation includes an amusement park. Megan believes that every good vacation involves a character-building hike. (Nathan believes we clock more miles a day at the amusement park — just saying.) One year took us to Universal Studios and Harry Potter World, while the other year took us to the Adirondacks in upstate New York. Can you tell…which year is which?
ski ski ski ski ski
We love all four seasons, but there is a special place in our hearts for winter because we know that when the temperatures start to drop and the snow begins to fall we’ll be out on the slopes in no time! This one is a little trickier due to colder weather in one year’s shot and, therefore, fewer exposed faces. Can you tell…which year is which?
all you need is love
Nothing says “I love you” like a heart-shaped box of Chocolates. Well, that and a heart-shaped box of Candy or Charcuterie. You really can’t go wrong with any of the 3 C’s. And you thought this year’s trivia was going to be easy? 🤨 Can you tell…which year is which?
the family that sillys together, stays together
Jokes, laughs, and silly faces are not lost on us. Whether riding in the back of a pedicab around Pittsburgh, or celebrating socially distant banana split-eating in the car, we sure do know how to pose for a great photo. And yes, there is a clue in that last sentence if you’re paying attention. Can you tell…which year is which?
i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike
We love our bikes, we really do. We have EIGHT bikes for our family of four — and Megan and Nathan only have one bike apiece, so do the math on how many Alex and Andy have between the two of them. Needless to say, they are not done yet and have their sights set on adding more to their lineup. As much as we love our bikes, we love exploring our city on our bikes even more, whether riding the rails-to-trails along the 3 Rivers, hitting the jumps at North Park, or running some laps at The Wheel Mill. Can you tell…which year is which? (Another obvious clue here…)
life’s a beach
One of our favorite annual traditions is meeting up with Nathan’s family for a week at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. We love spending our days swimming in the ocean, digging in the sand, riding bikes around town, and eating all our faves: Royal Treat ice cream, Thrasher’s fries, Planet Ice shaved ice, Grotto pizza, and 2020’s new nearly-daily routine of Zelky’s donut rings. Can you tell…which year is which?
summer camp to the max
The boys also look forward to spending a couple days with Gram and Grandad and their cousin Harper at Camp Armstrong in Carlisle, PA. There is always a full itinerary of fun activities and mystery excursions — launching homemade rockets, completing a neighborhood scavenger hunt, eating all the ice cream, and so much more. Can you tell…which year is which?
they shoot … and score!
Alex and Andy continue to stay active in our local Avonworth sport leagues. Soccer and hockey keep them busy on grass and ice, and you can find them in Avonworth red and black pretty much every day of the week, game day or not. And, of course, no mascot is more intimidating than the dreaded Antelope — Let’s Go ‘LOPES! Can you tell…which year is which?
back to school
There is one day of the school year when the boys wear collared shirts to school, and then it’s nothing but t-shirts and sweatshirts! (And yes, Andy has more than one collared shirt, but when you still fit in your favorite you wear it two years in a row!) The boys love school and learning and, while 2020 introduced us to hybrid and virtual schooling, Alex and Andy are still thriving thanks to amazing teachers and close friends with whom to co-learn from home. Can you tell…which year is which?
scary spooky skeletons send shivers down your spine
It seems like Alex and Andy start looking forward to Halloween earlier and earlier each year. Their costume planning process is surely inspired by their mom’s penchant for schedules and to-do lists. This is clearly evident in one of the years pictured below when Alex started growing his hair almost a year in advance to make sure he could pull off a proper Luke Skywalker on Halloween, and, of course, Andy converted his bike into a broom for his “Andy Potter” costume. Can you tell…which year is which?
merry christmas!
Christmas means celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus, spending time with friends and family, and posing for at least one “brotherly love” picture. Can you tell…which year is which?
While 2020 has been full of unprecedented challenges and unanticipated changes, we are blessed beyond belief to share these beautiful holiday smiles with you. We wish you and your families all the best in 2021!
